Laird B. Dart, 66, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 8:28 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at his residence. Born in Robinson, Illinois on March 23, 1945, he was the son of Harl Byrl Dart and Mary Helen (Stewart) Dart. He graduated from Oblong Township High School – Class of 1962. He served with the National Guard. Laird was a self employed farmer and oil producer. He was the owner and operator of Dogwood Creek Farm. He was a member of the Scott Ave. Christian Church, Newton, IL and former member of the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL; Oblong Community Club and Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Club. His hobbies included bike riding and antique tractors.
On September 23, 1967, he married Donna J. Wampler. Later on June 6, 1997, Laird married Carolyn D. French, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Lesley Brian Dart; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Kay Dart & Marcelo Armijos; a step-son, Jason & Becky Grubaugh; one grandson, Edison “Eddy” Loren Armijos; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Joan Dart and Barbara June & Charles Bluebaum; three nephews and two nieces.
Laird is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Loren Bren Dart.
Dan French & Mark Wilkinson will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Wilkin Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
